Inspiration + early development
Before starting the logo design and campaign look and feel, I knew I wanted to design something that would resonate with kids—something colorful, fun, and vibrant. I experimented with saturated colors, wacky custom lettering, and even looked to Disneyland’s roots by referencing old signage. But knowing that this work would live from something as small as a social post to something as large as a billboard, I knew I had to prioritize legibility while being completely ownable, completely Disney.
To celebrate such a playful time for kids and families, I created an energetic logo featuring the beloved Mickey Mouse. The lettering is based on the font Pain de Mie, with custom treatments to be more playful and childlike, while also prioritizing legibility.
The campaign color palette is full of life, speaking to the warmth of summer and balanced by cooler blues.
In spaces with motion, I worked together with Senior Designer Erick Calderon, Digital Design Supervisor Katherine Price, and Senior Digital Designer Tim Horvatich to establish a visual language for the transition between each board, with three total in the video above.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out my logo was on the Disneyland Park guide map! My friend told me to take a picture with it. Sometimes, I do what my friends tell me to do.
